classroom and online learning

Online learning is on the move, at a very quick pace. With such a massive disruption on the horizon, and the outbreak of global COVID-19 pandemic technology is all set to impact teaching and learning massively for both students and teachers. Technology is very intelligent as well as quite, so it is expected that teachers may no longer be required.

However, research for learning content will be needed. Teachers may have a huge focus on research for learning content, rather than teaching themselves. But, the big question is will the classroom and online learning can co-exist or will the later get replaced by the former.

In this article, let’s have a glance at the differences between virtual classroom and classroom learning.

· Convenience

Globally the education system is evolving tremendously.  Many are opting for Elearning as it is considered as more convenient. Because an individual can have access to learning irrespective of when and where the learner is. Many can remain in their own comfort zone, and they can complete the specialization programs at their own speed – with a final deadline in mind. Working at one’s own speed needs a lot of self-motivation, this demands for better content requirements as well as for more engaging content so that one can develop themselves at their own pace and convenience.

However, there are a few online classes, which are a part of learning and development in the workplace, so one might require completing them during the specific work hours. Classroom learning on one side is set to a basic schedule. Learners are expected to attend classes at the same time as other learners. One must also stay up to speed with one another. This can also result in higher motivation or sometimes in a lack of engagement.

· Personalization

In a traditional classroom related setting it is very tough to personalize the content. Many aspects depend on the class size and the way the teacher understands the requirements of individual learners. If teachers have better well of understanding about learning levels apart from teaching, then the teachers can prepare various learning materials – but this is also a time consuming process.

Elearning or virtual classroom is very much personalized with the help of pre and post learning quizzes. Several results offered can be either direct learners to the right program that are suited to their level, or to further learning once the program is finished. A better way to personalize the content to the learner is by focusing on achieving the same objectives.

· Teaching style

With traditional classroom learning, teaching is mainly based on the way the teacher prefers. For instance, one might think reading is the best way to learn new things. And so, most of the time the content will be taught via reading. But globally there are several teachers who understand the education system very well and also follow a unique approach which doesn’t suit all. That’s the reason they include various kinds of teaching methods wherever and whenever possible.

With technology on the rise, several traditional classrooms at present consist of interactive whiteboards, as well as also use tablets. This has made it very simpler for almost all the teachers to adopt several other approaches of teaching, sometimes these approaches can be consuming more time to prepare.

· Interaction

Online learning also offers several interactions via gamification, problem solving, role-play, storytelling, case studies, speakers and branching scenarios. Interactivity will also give realistic first-person experiences, to ensure the better understanding and practice of desired behaviors. In a traditional classroom environment the, learners experience more and better social interaction. They can also be teamed up with others to ensure learning, and to learn from as well as to teach others. Several learners also get the chance to interact with the teacher.
