In this post, I will explain why IT Nut Hosting can be a better choice for a startup blogger than the more popular Bluehost.
Many startup bloggers automatically go for Bluehost because it is probably the first hosting company that they have heard of or that they were recommended to, also, their limited exposure to Web hosting providers can be a contributing factor.
So, let’s start by why Bluehost is a popular choice and why it is most likely the first hosting provider a startup blogger will hear of.
Why Bluehost is a popular choice
Bluehost is a famous name in the hosting world, but is their popularity deserved?
(somewhere in this article I’ll leave you a free tool that you can use to check if your website is online and monitor your website’s uptime all day, every day!- after I tell you what uptime is)
Let’s take a look around under Bluehost’s hood and intensively test their shared hosting. And help you find the best hosting service for your website!
If you’re familiar with the name Bluehost it’s probably for two reasons;1.They are recommended by WordPress as a top host.2. They are part of a giant global family of brands called EIG, which explains how they host 2 million websites!
But that popularity doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best hosting provider for you, so let’s first see if their prices are of good value or not.
Bluehost’s plans and prices
Their plans come in four flavors, 1.basic, 2. plus, 3.choice plus, and 4. pro.
Now, the prices displayed by default at these tiers are monthly prices, but only if, you pay for 36months. If you select the option of paying for 24 months, 12 months, or for one month, the prices increase and that’s when you find out that they are not as cheap as you thought.
Also, another main thing you have to keep an eye on is their renewal prices, the first term is always cheaper, but expect to pay almost 50% more thereafter. You’ll also have to pay the term year in one go so multiply every price you see by 12, 24, or 36! to get started.
User experience Pros and Cons.
Bluehost offers a pleasant user experience with easy navigation and clear menus. My only problem here is the number of things they are trying to sell you all the time.In fact, you always have to stay vigilant around Bluehost because their upselling attempts are everywhere. Even when you sign up.
Bluehost only creates three regular backups of your site; one daily, weekly and monthly. I’ll be honest, it’s not really enough to feel safe. If you need more peace of mind, you can purchase their site backup pro add-on.
In terms of security, however, Bluehost does well. Offering STFP as well as PHP7, HTTP/2, and an SSL Certificate via let’s encrypt with every plan.
Bluehost also offers a bunch of paid add-ons you most likely don’t need.
According to an in-depth performance test ran by websitetooltester of the most famous hosting providers, Bluehost is described as being “a bit of a mixed bag”
In terms of uptime, there was no problem, the sites tested were live 99.95% of the time which is okay.(be aware that unlike other Webhosting providers, Bluehost doesn’t offer an uptime guarantee).
Speed results were a bit more concerning, with an average of 3.32seconds to load, this put them far behind many other providers, and behind the 3seconds recommended by Google.
I’ll note here that they only have one known location for their servers based near the company headquarters in Utah in the United States, that could be an issue for some users.
Bluehost support, unfortunately, is also one of the company’s shortcomings. You can contact them via live chat and phone, but you often find yourself waiting for about 20 minutes or more just to get rushed answers.
So, in conclusion, I set out to find a solution to the Bluehost problem that many of us would find ourselves in, and I found IT Nut hosting.
Why I recommend IT Nut and how it addresses Bluehost’s Cons.
IT Nut Hosting has a very nice list of features and the best of them being unlimited bandwidth at a very low cost, cheaper than many others as of the quality of service that IT Nut Hosting provides, and, their customer support is awesome!
(they also offer a free .com domain to any yearly hosting package )
IT Nut has a very powerful 24/7 online support, with immediate replies and in-depth consultation that will ensure your needs are fully catered for (I would strongly recommend IT Nut hosting to any beginner), just look at their reviews, their customers love them!
IT Nut Hosting is rated excellent and I would attribute this to their customer satisfaction and support. Customers like to be treated nicely and if you give them that, your reviews will be nothing less than excellent.
SummaryIT Nut hosting addresses the issues that we have seen with Bluehost in the following ways:
- 99.99% uptime. (with uptime guarantee)
- Free for life SSL Certificate.
- Auto back-up and restore.
- 24/7/365 support, and,
- A Litespeed server.
All this with a price that’s lower than what Bluehost charges for its services.Sure, it’s relatively new compared to Bluehost but I can confidently say that what they lack in experience they make up for in user experience!
As I had promised at the beginning, here is a tool that you can use to check the uptime of your website.(They are great and also have good customer support service. They can notify you in your email when your site is not online or through a telegram chat.) It is free!
